Run by Chris & Nicki Smart, 112 Survival is based in five acres of woodland close to the Wrekin in Shropshire. We offer range of training courses and woodland rental opportunities. We conduct our training in a friendly and open way and are dedicated to giving you the best possible outdoor experience.
OUTDOOR SAFETY & SURVIVAL COURSE - 24 HOURS - £85 PER PERSON
During this course we will show you how to survive an outdoor emergency until rescue here in the UK. You will learn how to plan your outdoor adventure and adapt your plan during an emergency situation. We will explore the different methods you can utilise to alert UK emergency services and Search And Rescue and show you the most modern survival gear on the market.
This course has a practice element where you will get the opportunity to experience an overnight simulated outdoor survival situation. At the end of the course, you will be emailed the 112 Survival handbook that contains the information covered during the course for your future reference.
OUTDOOR SAFETY & SURVIVAL COURSE – 6 HOURS - £45 PER PERSON
During this course we will show you how to survive an outdoor emergency until rescue here in the UK. You will learn how to plan your outdoor adventure and adapt your plan during an emergency situation. We will explore the different methods you can utilise to alert UK emergency services and Search And Rescue and show you the most modern survival gear on the market.
WILD CAMPER – 3 X WEEKENDS - £350 PER PERSON
Over 3 weekends we will cover outdoor safety and survival, wild camping using tarp or tent, cooking over an open fire, and using gas stoves. You will learn basic map reading and navigation and undertake a day hike and wild camp. The 3 weekends are planned with enough time between to allow you to consolidate the learning and procure gear for the next phase. At the end of the course, you will be prepared to plan and undertake a wild camping adventure safely and have the confidence to survive if it all goes wrong.
WOODLAND ADVENTURE DAY - 5 HOURS - £45 PER PERSON
Come and spend the day learning to set up a tarp, light a fire and cook over the open fire. We will track wildlife and throw tomahawks as well.
WOODLAND RENTAL – ½ DAY OR FULL DAY FOR UP TO 12 PEOPLE
FULL DAY - £145 (9am – 5pm) ½ DAY - £95 (10am – 2pm or 12pm – 4pm)
Our woodland site is available to rent on a full or half day basis allowing you the freedom to conduct your own activities. We will provide a covered area with seating, and a separate cooking area. We supply drinking water and there is a composting toilet on site. You can drive right into our woodland and there is some on-site parking. Our woods are great for, forest school, Scout and cadet groups, tracking, bushcraft, and wildlife photography.
EQUIPMENT HIRE– POA
We have a range of cooking equipment, Tarps, Cutting tools, Firewood, Fire pits available to hire at extra costs.

Chris Smart - Principal Survival Skills Trainer
Chris has a passion for survival related skills and believes that people should have the opportunity to develop their own knowledge and techniques and that the training they receive plants the seeds for them to achieve this.
Chris has taught survival skills in temperate, tropical, arid, and extreme cold regions of the world during his 30 plus years involved in the survival skills field. He has spent the last 11 years training clients in the middle east.
Chris holds military and civilian qualifications in survival skills training and was the former head of instructor training at he the Tri service SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Extraction) school in Cornwall.
